Milk splash with wireframe


I accomplished this shot in Realflow 4 and composited it in Nuke. The sim is actually 3 separate simulations, one to get the shape of the body another to get the tendrils, and a third to get more individual particles flying out. The body and tendril sims were meshed together while I left the extra droplets separate for compositing. The tear drop was the client’s choice and wasn’t used to create the actual sim, it was just placed in Maya and hand-animated in place of the actual droplet. To get the height of the splash I used deformers to scale it up for the reveal as this would never physically happen. Although the milk is the final render the background isn’t, I used Mental Ray to complete the renders for the milk and can.
